I recorded these songs in 2001 and 2002 on my trusty 4-track Yamaha cassette recorder, in Knoxville and Asheville apartments. I was ripping off Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Hank Williams, the Stones, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Todd Snider and more. Just trying to get a handle on writing songs and making recordings. It was a gorgeous time.
